Publication Ethics
AN-NAZRI: Journal of Islamic Studies is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and expects all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—to adhere to these ethical principles.
The journal publishes only original, high-quality scholarly works and upholds the values of academic integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability throughout the editorial and publishing process.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
Yayasan Nik Abdul Aziz Riau (NAZRI), as the publisher of AN-NAZRI: Journal of Islamic Studies, is responsible for supporting editorial independence and ensuring that all published content complies with internationally accepted ethical standards. The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions and is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Evaluating submitted manuscripts solely on their academic merit, originality, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope.
- Making publication decisions based on reviewers' recommendations and editorial policies.
- Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and confidential peer-review process.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
- Avoiding conflicts of interest in editorial decisions.
- Taking appropriate action when ethical concerns or misconduct are identified.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts under review.
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
- Inform the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct.
- Decline the review if a conflict of interest exists.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are required to:
- Submit original and unpublished work.
- Ensure that all data presented are accurate and authentic.
- Properly acknowledge and cite the work of others.
- Avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and duplicate publication.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest and all sources of research funding.
- Ensure that all listed authors have made significant contributions and approve the final manuscript.
- Notify the editor promptly if significant errors are discovered after publication.
Research Ethics
Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data must comply with applicable ethical standards and regulations. Authors are responsible for obtaining ethical approval from the appropriate institutional review board or ethics committee whenever required.
Plagiarism Policy
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin and/or iThenticate before entering the peer-review process. Manuscripts with an overall similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references, quotations, and minor matches) may be returned for revision or rejected.
The journal maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, and other forms of publication misconduct.
Conflicts of Interest
Editors, reviewers, and authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process or the interpretation of research findings.
Corrections and Retractions
If significant errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal will publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions in accordance with the COPE guidelines to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
